LITTLE COTTONWOOD CANYON — Crews worked to locate and carry an injured climber out of Little Cottonwood Canyon Monday evening.

The man was rope climbing and ran out of rope while on belay, according to officials. He fell 25 to 30 feet and suffered serious head injuries from the fall.

The man was climbing quite high up the mountain, and crews had to belay him down, officials said. Crews were working to carry him out of the canyon on a backboard as of Monday at 9 p.m.

The condition of the climber is still unknown. More information will be posted as it becomes available.
