SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah residents can now order a license plate bearing an American flag and the motto "In God We Trust."

Governor Gary Herbert announced Friday that the plates are available for order online or at DMV offices.

The Legislature passed a bill earlier this year approving the design as one of 56 specialty plates up for sale.

The design costs $18 a year for a regular passenger vehicle, in addition to standard registration fees.

DMV spokesman Charlie Roberts says the fee goes to cover the DMV's administrative expenses, but no other organizations will benefit from the license plate proceeds.
