VERNAL — A tractor-trailer truck hauling lumber overturned Tuesday morning west of Vernal, shutting down part of US-40 for several hours.
The driver was pulling two trailers through an area known locally as "The Twists," when the second trailer traveled off the right side of the road just before 10:20 a.m., according to the Utah Highway Patrol.
The driver "did not correct properly," troopers said, causing the truck and trailers to roll. That sent lumber across the roadway, initially shutting down all but one lane.
Neither speed nor driver impairment are suspected as contributing factors in the crash, investigators said.
The driver declined medical treatment at the scene. He was cited for unsafe lane travel.
