SALT LAKE CITY — Community and family members gathered today to celebrate the 60th annual Governor's Day.
Governor's Day serves as an opportunity for the Governor to inspect the roughly 7,000 troops that make up the Utah National Guard.
It is also provides family and friends a chance to see their loved ones in action as they take part in the pass-and-review ceremony.
"It's really a unique thing and it's not really done in many states nationwide; this is a very unique event to the National Guard," said Col. Hank McIntire of the Utah National Guard.
The festivities included equipment displays, climbing wall and cannon volleys which could be heard throughout the surrounding area.
