COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS — A 53-year-old man is in the hospital after his wife allegedly stabbed him in the stomach.

Darla Fuller was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on charges of domestic aggravated assault. Sgt. Dan Bartlett of the Cottonwood Heights Police Department said police have responded to the home previously for domestic problems.

"We've been there before on calls of domestic disturbances," Bartlett said, "These issues were always verbal arguments."

Sgt. Bartlett said Fuller drove her husband to the hospital around 4 a.m. Sunday morning. The man told doctors he had injured himself in an accident but police later searched the house and found evidence that pointed to an intentional stabbing.

The victim was rushed into surgery and is in critical condition. Police obtained a warrant and search the house, located on Chadbourne Drive, for further evidence. No one else was in the home when the incident occurred.
