ST GEORGE — Police arrested a man Monday who they say was involved with "not one but four residential burglaries," at the same home while a family was at church.

Officers had been to a home near 2000 North and 2100 West three times in the past several months when they were called back Aug. 4 for yet another burglary. About $1,000 in cash, along with three credit cards, were taken from the home.

While the previous burglaries were not immediately solved, the victims were able to provide police with evidence that the credit cards had been used after the latest incident. Police subsequently gathered surveillance images that purportedly show Leroy Leu Kavea trying to use the stolen cards at an ATM machine, according to St. George police Sgt. Sam Despain.

Police later interviewed Kavea, who admitted to an officer that he had burglarized the home four times, taking cash and other items he cold steal quickly, Despain said.

Kavea told police that on some occasions the home was unlocked, while on another, he entered a vehicle and used the garage door opener to gain access to the home, according to court documents.

"What we believe is that while this family was at church, he knew that nobody was home and knew when he could enter the house when nobody was home," Despain said.

Kavea was booked for investigation of burglary, criminal mischief, vehicle burglary, unlawful possession of a financial card and fraudulent use of a financial card.
