MURRAY — Police are searching for a man responsible for a brazen home invasion robbery in which one person was shot.

Murray police were called to the Miller Estates Apartments near 4900 South and 850 East on a report of gunshots around 10 p.m. Tuesday. When officers arrived they found one man shot in the leg.

The victim was taken to a local hospital but has since been released. Police hope to talk to him and get more details about what happened.

Witnesses claimed there had been a home invasion robbery.

"There was apparently a male that entered the residence, forced everyone to the ground at gunpoint, demanding money," said Lt. Douglas Roberts of the Murray Police Department.

Police said witnesses told them the intruder assaulted several people in the apartment before leaving. When they followed him, he turned the gun on them and fired. Police have not been able to identify the robber and are still trying to determine a motive for the home invasion robbery.

"There is a possibility that it was drug related but that hasn't been verified yet," Roberts said.

He said five to six people were inside the apartment when the robbery happened. Investigators will be working with those witnesses to get a description and possibly a name of the intruder.
