NEW HARMONY, Washington County — The Utah Highway Patrol are looking for a man that fled from police after a routine traffic stop in Washington County.

Around 2:45 p.m. Saturday, a trooper with the UHP stopped a 2008 Chevrolet Impala with Colorado license plates near New Harmony. The trooper stopped the vehicle for alleged reckless driving and for the tint of the vehicle's windows.

When the officer approached the vehicle he saw two men and three women, and smelled the presence of marijuana. One of the women removed some marijuana from her shirt and gave it to the trooper. The woman was then arrested and heroin was found to be in her pockets.

The male driver struggled with the officer and dropped a loaded magazine for a handgun before being arrested. During the struggle, the other male passenger ran across I-15. The driver also fled from the scene, but responding officers were able to detain him.

Officers are still searching for the male passenger who fled from the scene. He was last seen in New Harmony wearing blue jeans and a teal shirt. He is described as a hispanic male with black hair and brown eyes.

A stolen handgun was located in the vehicle with the serial number scratched off.

The woman that was arrested was transported to the Valley View Hospital for medical problems, but was later released and booked into the Washington County Jail.
