FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — The male and female killed by a Tuesday lightning strike near Jacob Lake have been identified.

The victims were identified by the Coconino County Sheriff's Office as Aram Kawewong, 20, and his wife, Ratchava Tantranon, 20. The couple were visiting the United States from Chiang-Mai, Thailand at the time of the incident. Emergency responders pronounced the victims dead at the scene.

Both victims were stuck by lightning on Tuesday around 3 p.m. while they were standing at the LeFevre Scenic Overlook. A male child was also knocked to the ground and received non-life threatening injuries during the lightning strike. His name is not being released.

The LeFevre Scenic Overlook is about eight miles north of Jacob Lake.
