MANTI — A man died Monday after crashing an ATV. It was the second fatal ATV accident in Sanpete County in two days.

The Sanpete County Sheriff’s Office reported the ATV veered off a roadway about three miles below Skyline Drive in Manti Canyon Monday afternoon and went down an embankment, leaving the man, who was about 60 years old, and the ATV pinned against a tree.

When the deputy and emergencies responders arrived, they pronounced the man, whose name was not released, dead at the scene.

A female minor was also riding the ATV and was thrown off when it left the roadway, authorities reported. She sustained minor injuries and was hospitalized in good condition Monday night.

A Price teenager died Saturday in another ATV accident in Huntington Canyon. Levi Armstrong, 15, reportedly rolled his four-wheeler about 9 p.m., between Miller's Flat and Joe's Valley, sustaining fatal head injuries, the Sun Advocate in Price reported.

"There is a sharp corner as you leave Miller's Flat and they just rolled right there," Armstrong's mother, Kym Melo, told the newspaper. "We know he was wearing his helmet but we don't know if he had it fastened properly."

Armstrong was pronounced dead on arrival at Mount Pleasant Hospital.
