SOUTH SALT LAKE — Police searched for but did not find a man suspected of robbing a bank Thursday morning.

Just before 11 a.m., a man wearing a transparent Halloween-type mask, a knit cap and black gloves walked into U.S. Bank on the corner of 2700 South and 300 West, pointed a gun at the teller and demanded money, said South Salt Lake police detective Gary Keller.

There were no customers in the bank at the time. The man left with an undisclosed amount of cash. Police described the suspect as a tall black male with dark hair and a thin beard. He was wearing a Halloween mask, along with a gray knitted beanie and black gloves.

He is described as 6 feet 2 inches tall and 180 pounds, according to a news release. He was wearing a collard shirt, gray khaki pants and white shoes.

Police and K-9s searched the area but lost the man's trail, leading them to conclude he may have gotten into a waiting vehicle, Keller said.
