TOOELE — Fire officials have completed their investigation of a house fire in Tooele.

The fire started late Tuesday afternoon, completely destroying two homes. Firefighters deemed the official cause of the fire is undetermined. The investigation is now finished.

Five people, including a baby, lived in one home and was inside when the fire started. Though everything they owned was inside the home and destroyed in the fire, they said they were grateful they got out.

"It went from the garage to the whole house in minutes," said the owner of one home, Becky Thomas.

Thomas doesn't remember much about those first frantic minutes when she realized her home was burning. Only that her husband was still inside. "I really didn't know if he was okay. That was scary," Thomas said. Now, a Comfort Inn, provided by the Red Cross, is home.

"We're not really sure what we're going to do next," she said. "I mean, I don't even know where to start. What do you do?"

A fund was set up for them at Wells Fargo Bank under the Thomas Family Fund.*

The home next door that burned was put up for sale last week and the owner moved to Washington state. A restoration company was there today to see what could be saved.
