SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A southern Utah wildfire has grown to 7 square miles, but crews hope to have it at least half contained by day's end.
Fire information officer Nick Howell says the Black Mountain Fire is currently the largest active wildfire in the three state area of Utah, Idaho and Wyoming.
The wildfire is 35 percent contained. Howell says they hope to have it 50-percent contained by Thursday night.
The lightning-caused fire started Tuesday near Minersville, a tiny town about 185 miles southwest of Salt Lake City.
Nearly 300 firefighters are battling the blaze in temperatures that have been reaching the upper 90s. Howell says two firefighters were taken to the hospital Thursday with heat exhaustion and dehydration. Both are expected to make full recoveries.
