Utah House drafts resolution to investigate A.G. John Swallow

The Utah House has drafted a resolution to form a special committee to investigate embattled Attorney General John Swallow.

The resolution calls for the speaker to appoint a nine-member special investigative committee. It does not specify the number of Republicans or Democrats but would presumably reflect the overwhelming GOP majority in the House.

The committee would be charged with investigating allegations against Swallow, a Republican, while he served as chief deputy attorney general, as a candidate for attorney general and as attorney general.

Brigham City teen killed, two others injured in rollover accident

A 16-year-old boy is dead and two of his friends are in critical condition after a rollover crash Friday afternoon.

Tyler Jason Stuart was killed instantly when he was ejected from the vehicle. None of the teens, who are from Brigham City, were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

The teens were driving south on I-15 about 4:15 p.m. when the Chevy pickup truck they were driving drifted out of its lane just before the freeway merges with I-84.

The driver, an 18-year-old male, overcorrected, bringing the truck back across I-15 and rolling it down an embankment onto I-84.

In temperatures of 105 degrees fahrenheit, firefighters say they have responded to several calls of people suffering from heat exhaustion.

Paramedics say, heat exhaustion, if not treated, can turn to heat stroke, which is fatal. They say, if you're feeling tired, dizzy or weak, cool yourself down and drink water. They recommend, sipping, not gulping down water.

Their biggest concern on a record-breaking hot day is for kids and the elderly. The fire department said people should check on their loved ones, neighbors and friends — especially if they are elderly and don't have air conditioning.

Son with cerebral palsy in tow, father trains for marathon

Endurance events like marathons and triathlons continue to be popular with Utahns, and for a father and son from Roosevelt competing in these events poses a unique challenge.

A few years ago, Danny's aunt came for a visit. She was training for a marathon, and, not wanting her to run around Roosevelt herself, Danny's father Brian Ross joined her for a run. Then he approached his wife about running triathlons and marathons with Danny in tow.

They bought a running jogger for Danny, along with a special tomato seat and began running 5K and 10K races. Now, they are training for the St. George Marathon in October. It will be their first attempt at the 26.2 mile distance.
