Last night we told you about a woman, dying of cancer, who lost her best companion: Her dog.
Tonight, the good news.
A man learned about the woman's loss right here on ksl.com. His wife's friends had found that dog the day before. He contacted Eyewitness News and we were there when he returned the dog to her very happy owner.
When we left Joy Cella Monday night, her outlook was bleak.
Joy Cella: "I kept thinking, well if I have Tory.. I can fight it. I don't even feel like fighting now."
Tory is her beloved miniature Daschund- and it is terminal cancer she does not feel like fighting alone.
You see, Tory is a service dog, certified by her doctors. Even allowed in the hospital.
Joy Cella: "I never married and had kids..so she's my baby"
Her baby was found by Jack Lundell's wife's friends.
Jack Lundell, Returned dog: "I think its awesome we have the opportunity to make someone's day a little better."
Lundell contacted Channel 5 and we were there when he returned Tori.
"You are so welcome. Give me a hug. Glad you got him back."
Dogs have been known to do amazing things for their masters. In Joy Cella's case, Tori brings her hope and strength to try and live another day.
Joy Cella: I canceled my appointment with the Oncologist this afternoon because I did not want to hear anymore bad news. But now I can go on to fighting for as long as i can to stay alive because she'll be there with me."
The Salt Lake Animal Shelter also saw the story and has offered to implant a chip in the dog. So if it is ever missing and found at the shelter, they will know instantly where the dog belongs.
