Report says commercial construction likely to peak in 2008
January 23rd, 2008 @ 11:29am

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A report says Utah's commercial construction likely will grow again this year before slowing down in 2009.

The report was prepared for Commerce CRG by University of Utah researchers.

If historical trends hold, the report says there will be a steady decline in nonresidential construction after 2008. And that could mean a significant drop in jobs on construction sites.

City Creek Center in downtown Salt Lake City is the biggest project in dollar terms, followed by a Procter & Gamble factory in Box Elder County.
