ROOSEVELT — A Duchesne man was seriously injured Monday when his pickup truck crashed into a tractor-trailer truck on U.S. 40 near the junction with state Route 87 west of Roosevelt.
The crash happened about 12:10 p.m. when the driver of a tractor-trailer truck owned by Corlett Express turned left from SR-87 to go east on U.S. 40 without considering the proximity of oncoming traffic, Utah Highway Patrol trooper Brett Hansen said.
The driver of the pickup truck was driving west on the highway, didn't have time to stop and crashed into the larger truck, Hansen said.
The pickup truck sustained heavy damage and flipped onto its side. Roosevelt firefighters had to cut the roof of the cab off to reach the injured driver, who is 19 years old, Hansen said.
The man was taken by ambulance to Uintah Basin Medical Center, where he was listed in serious but stable condition, the trooper said. The 38-year-old Magna man who was driving the tractor-trailer truck was not injured.
Hansen declined to release the names of either man. A citation is pending, he said.
