TREMONTON — After a string of suspected arsons over a week period, Tremonton citizens are concerned about their property.

Police said a shed containing football equipment behind the Bear River High School bleachers was lit on fire. The equipment was salvaged with minimal damage, but the football coach texted his players to warn them to "keep an eye on their stuff because someone was trying to light it on fire."

Ashley and Jonathan Bailey are some of the residents that have been targeted by the arsonist. Ashley said that over the past three days, two cars and trailer were lit on fire and destroyed. On Tuesday, the Bailey's truck was also lit on fire.

"I'm still freaking out," Ashley said. "I can barely sleep at night."

All of the vehicles were unlocked which is common for the rural area and police said the arsonist put some type of accelerant inside the vehicles before setting them on fire. Ashley said that typically the fires have occurred around 5 or 6 a.m.

A Jeep at Rudd's Funeral Home also went up in flames on Thursday, adding to the growing number of arsonist attacks. The Funeral Home owner said he doesn't think it will be long before the criminal is caught.

"The fire department is pretty much ready," said Rudd's Funeral Home, Joe Rudd.

People said all of the fires happened in less than a two-mile radius around the high school, and residents are hoping the arsonist is caught soon.
