MJ gets hitched, and a look at Star Wars-inspired jerseys

SALT LAKE CITY — In a ballpark far, far away, a minor league baseball team is harnessing the force.

OK, so it's not that far away, it's just in Toledo, but the minor league affiliate to the Detroit Tigers is channeling "Star Wars" for an upcoming game.

The Toledo Mud Hens released photos of their "Star Wars"-themed uniforms for an upcoming game. The jerseys look like a mess at first glance, but you soon realize they are inspired by Chewbacca himself.

The Mud Hens will also hand out kazoos to fans so they can play along when "Star Wars" music is played in the stadium while they enjoy a Yoda Soda or a Darth Chocolate Brownie Sundae.

Following the game the jerseys will be auctioned off for local charities.

Locally, Real Salt Lake will host its own "Star Wars"-themed game Saturday, May 4.

MJ gets hitched

His Airness, Michael Jordan, got married over the weekend. According a piece by ESPN, he's trading in his sneakers for tuna fishing and home-cooked meals.

The 50-year-old Jordan married 35-year-old Yvette Prieto, who comes from a close Cuban-American family who loves to sit around the dinner table — and as a family, they know almost nothing about basketball.

ESPN reports that Prieto has convinced Jordan to start sailing and deep-sea fishing for yellow tuna. I guess when you have a net worth of $650 million you can take up pretty much whatever hobby you like.

Ref attacks youth player

A linesman attacked an 18-year-old soccer player during a match in Russia.

In the video you see the referee attack the player as soon as the final whistle of the game blows. The player says he didn't know who had attacked him until he was lying on the ground getting kicked in the face.

The lineman accused the player of verbally attacking him during the game, something the player denies.

Regardless of why the ref attacked him, it was a bad choice. The Chechen linesman has been given a lifetime ban.
