OGDEN — An on-duty officer was hospitalized Wednesday after colliding with a vehicle that turned in front of his police motorcycle in an intersection.

The officer was southbound on Washington Boulevard when he entered the intersection at 30th Street just before 4 p.m. and hit a vehicle that turned left in front of him, said Utah Highway Patrol Cpl. Todd Johnson.

Officer Scott Gardiner was riding a 2006 Harley-Davidson police motorcycle at the time of the accident, an Ogden Police Department spokesman said.

Gardiner was alert and talking when he was transported to an area hospital, Johnson said. His left ankle was broken in the crash.

Margaret Isaac, 47, of Willard, was cited for failure to yield, Johnson said.
