LEHI — Several Utah students tested their engineering skills on Thursday when they competed with swimming robots.
The U.S. Office of Naval Research sponsored the "Robot Swim" held at the Lehi Legacy Center. Over 200 elementary and middle school students participated in the event.
BYU engineering students served as mentors to help the students design and build the robots which were then guided through an underwater obstacle course.
The event was part of the Utah Regional Sea-Perch Competition which aims to promote youth interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
