MILLCREEK — Solid "heads up police work" led to the arrest of a man who police have sought in connection to a triple homicide in Midvale, police said.
Davis Fotu, 33, was found at the residence of a federal probationer Sunday night Unified Police were assisting federal probation officers in checking on the probationer after receiving a narcotics complaint, according to Lt. Justin Hoyal.
For almost three weeks, Fotu has been a person of interest in the alleged murders of Danielle Lucero, Omar Jarman, and Shontay Young.
After entering the probationer's condominium at 3962 S. 700 East, at about 8 p.m. Sunday, Unified officers recognized Fotu in the residence. Hoyal said he also identified himself to officers as Fotu.
Police then tried to take the man into custody. Fotu resisted arrest and was Tased in order to bring him into custody.
He was arrested and taken to Unified Police Offices to be interviews regarding the deaths.
"Since the release of his name he has been a person of interest. he has been a person we have wanted to talk to to determine what exactly his involvement was in the case," Hoyal said.

A man arrested in connection with a triple homicide in Midvale was charged Friday with three counts of aggravated murder.Officers had no idea Fotu would be at the residence, but were quick to recognize him. What connection he has to the probationer is not known, Hoyal said.
Hoyal also said he does not know of any connection between the probationer and the homicide.
Fotu was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of obstruction of justice in connection to the triple homicide, though Hoyal declined to say Monday what role investigators believe Fotu played in the crime.
Lucero, Jarman and Young were killed Feb. 12. at 8286 S. Adams St. (450 West). A third person was injured and hospitalized but survived. Four others were uninjured in the shooting.
David Fresques, 25, has been charged with 1st degree murder in the deaths.
Fotu was arrested Feb. 9, three days before the killings, after allegedly assaulting a hotel security guard. He told police he was there to "buy weed."
Fotu was charged with aggravated assault and retaliation against a witness, victim or informant, both third-degree felonies, for the incident at the hotel, and was also arrested based on those charges Sunday.
Fotu has a long criminal history, spending 2001 to 2008 in the Utah State Prison for aggravated assault, attempted theft, criminal mischief and attempted burglary, including a federal offense.
