LAS VEGAS (AP) - Johnny Dee scored 25 points, including eight in the closing minutes, as San Diego knocked off BYU 72-69 in the quarterfinals of the West Coast Conference tournament Friday night.

The sixth-seeded Toreros (16-17) took the lead for good on a three-point play by Dee that made it 65-62 with 2:12 remaining, and Chris Anderson added a pair of free throws to make it a five-point lead. Third-seeded BYU (21-11) scored three times in the final 30 seconds to make it a one-possession game, but Dee responded by hitting 5 of 6 free throws to secure the victory.

San Diego advances to meet No. 2 seed Saint Mary's in the WCC semifinals on Saturday.

Anderson finished with 16 points and six assists for the Toreros while Ken Rancifer added 15 points.

Brandon Davies and Tyler Haws scored 20 points apiece for the Cougars. Davies also had nine rebounds and eight assists.
