SALT LAKE CITY — A woman struck by a car while crossing a street Saturday night has died from her injuries.

Maria DeAquino, 26, was crossing the street at 3605 S. State Street around 7:15 p.m., when she was struck by a Toyota Prius, according to police.

South Salt Lake Detective Gary Keller said that DeAquino crossed the street outside of a crosswalk. He thinks she was walking to her usual bus stop.

She was taken to a hospital in extremely critical condition, and later died.

An investigation is still ongoing and no charges have been filed.
