PARK CITY — Big names in snowboarding and skiing, including one of Salt Lake's own, headed up to Canyons Resort for a weekend of competing.

The Spring U.S. Snowboarding and Freeskiing Grand Prix welcomed athletes to Utah's slopes from Feb. 25 to March 2. Saturday, the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association announced the winners.

U.S. Olympian Faye Gulini, 21, won first place in the boardercross event. Michelle Brodeur, of Canada, took second place in the ladies event.

Born in Salt Lake City, Guilini got her start snowboarding at Snowbird when she was 9 years old. She suffered a knee injury in 2012.

In the men boardercross event, American Trevor Jacob placed first. Hagen Kearney took second place.
