MIDVALE — It's been four days since Danielle Lucero was murdered, and time has done nothing for those who loved her.

"We're all saying we can't believe it yet, said Andrew Lucero. "It hasn't sunk in yet. We're hurt."

Family and friends wore sweatshirts with Danielle's photo on the back and made a path of candles leading up to the home where she was shot Tuesday.

"It's just a hard thing to come here and see this," said childhood friend Wayne Gavin. "It was hard driving up the street and looking at the house."

Police are still investigating exactly what happened inside the Midvale home last week after three people were found dead. The victims, Omar Jarman, Shontay Young and Lucero were all shot. A fourth was taken to the hospital.

Police have said the Midvale residence is a known narcotics house, and a drug-related search warrant was served at the house about a month ago.

Sunday, the Lucero's family held a vigil in her honor. Even though she's gone they hope the vigil will still guide her.

"It's a tradition in New Mexico, said Inez Lucero. "It's called luminadias, light it up and hope that her spirit is set free with the other victims."

Her aunt says she hopes Danielle's passing will leave behind a powerful message that drugs aren't worth it.

And while friends and family say she made some bad choices, that's not what they will remember most.

"She was always singing and that girl can sing, and it breaks my heart because I am never going to hear her song again," she said.
