PROVO — One of the stars of the 1960s singing trio "The Lettermen" has died in Provo.

Bob Engemann died in his Provo home early Sunday morning, according to a family spokesman.

Engemann attended Brigham Young University in 1958 and along with fellow student Jim Pike joined original Lettermen member Tony Butala in recording beginning in 1960.

The group recorded with Warner Bros. Records, releasing two unsuccessful singles in 1960. They then signed with Capitol Records, releasing their first single for the company, "The Way You Look Tonight," in 1961. The song peaked at number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The band had 16 top-10 singles, 11 gold records, five Grammy nominations, an Andy Award and a Cleo award. Engemann resigned late in 1967.

In 2011, Engemann and Pike reunited to perform Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World" with their friend Ric de Azevedo.

Engemann lived in Provo managing local talent until his death.
