WEST HAVEN — A West Haven home received extensive damage Friday night after a fire started in the garage, spreading rapidly.
The fire started at 3697 West 4150 South in West Haven shortly before 9:30 p.m. while the family was out to dinner. It quickly spread from the garage and consumed a vehicle and a trailer sitting next to the home, according to Weber Fire District marshal Ted Black.
Firefighters actively fought the fire for 3040 minutes and remained there Friday night to fight hotspots.
"We did put a lot of water on it," Black said.
Black said damage to the interior of the house was "extensive." The cause of the fire is unknown and is expected to be under investigation for several days.
