WEST VALLEY CITY — An early-morning shooting at an apartment complex didn't result in any injuries, but left a home riddle with bullet holes.

According to Sgt. Paul Gill with West Valley Police, at about 7:45 a.m. Sunday, a man knocked on several doors at the apartments located at 1915 W. 3300 South.

"He was looking for a specific individual who apparently he has some type of problem with," Gill said.

Residents of one of the apartments eventually answered, but he was told that the individual he was looking for wasn't there.

"(He) wasn't happy with that answer and as he was walking away from the apartment, he turned around and fired multiple shots back at the apartment," Gill said.

Police did not specify how many shots were fired, but as many as 20 bullet holes could be counted at the scene.

"I heard four shots and then a pause," said neighbor Karen Huber, "then more than four shots."

Bullets went through the window and wall, but none of the residents in the apartment were injured.

Gill said the alleged shooter fled in a vehicle possibly driven by a female.

Police don't yet have a suspect.

"Hopefully we can get an ID on this individual and get this resolved," Gill said.

Huber said she looked out the window after the commotion and saw a man in a gray sweatsuit walking away. But she couldn't say whether the man was the shooter or someone being shot at.

Huber has lived in the neighborhood for seven years and feels safe.

The investigation is still ongoing. More information will be posted as it becomes available.
