SALT LAKE CITY - A West Jordan teen has been named king of the world - well, of the chess world that is.

Kayden Troff, 14, spent three weeks in Austria and Slovenia competing in the World Youth Chess Championships. More than 1,500 kids from over 90 countries vied for the top slot, and Troff walked away the winner.

Troff received his trophy from Russian Gary Kasparov, who is considered the greatest chess player of all time.

"That was great to get the stamp of approval from Gary," said Troff.

Troff returned home triumphant Monday night, bringing the title and his trophy back to Utah.
