MIDVALE — A local family struggling to make ends meet received the gift of transportation on Monday, just in time for Thanksgiving.

The Gibsons have four children and their current vehicle only fits three in the back. To be able to fit all of their children in one vehicle is something the family said was badly needed.

"This saves my family," Jon Gibson said. "It allows us to be able to be a family. This is a beautiful, wonderful thing."

Allstate Insurance Company and Sterling Autobody Centers presented the Gibson family with a refurbished 2005 Toyota Sienna that was given to them through the National Auto Body Council's Recycled Rides Program.

The council recruits auto body shops, insurers, paint suppliers and others in the automotive industry to contribute to their goal of recycling and delivering cars to families in need. The families are identified through local charitable agencies.

Cars are donated to families in need simultaneously the Monday before Thanksgiving every year.
