SALT LAKE CITY — Sometimes, inspiration finds you.

Other times, you have to go out looking for it, as five recent college graduates did when they renovated an old school bus and embarked on a 52-week journey to find America's inspirational stories.

From the Florida men who placed swings in random places around town, "just to make people's days," to the woman who started a recording studio in her basement for sick children, the group behind Bus 52 was out to find the best America had to offer them: stories about real people working to improve the lives of those who shared their little corner of the world.

Robert Gelb first had the idea for Bus 52 while watching the news. The Bethesda, Md. man said he was frustrated by the amount of negative news he saw. This, in addition to his desire to both see other parts of the country and benefit others while doing it, led to the idea for Bus 52.

That idea has thus far led Hascher, Gelb and three others to embark on a journey to every corner of the continental US. The team was in Utah last week on their 18th stop, visiting Salt Lake City before heading to Cedar City and eventually into New Mexico. Their goal is to find two inspirational stories per state, producing a five-minute documentary-style video for each and posting them online. Utah's stories will be showcased in mid-June.
