PROVO — A man died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound Saturday evening while driving away from police officers, according to Provo police.
Officers were dispatched at 6:15 p.m. to check on a man after family members called saying they were concerned about him, said Provo police spokesman Matthew Siufanua. They found him at a Chevron station at 800 N. 500 West.
The man drove away at a slow rate of speed and was followed by officers, he said. While driving, the man shot himself, causing his vehicle to crash into three parked cars at 650 North and 100 West, Siufanua said.
Police did not release the man's name and age.
