SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The Utah Department of Health says reports of a parasite that causes severe digestive problems are on the rise.
So far more than 150 cases of cryptosporidium have been reported to health departments along the Wasatch Front.
Officials worry exposure won't decline until people who are sick, or who have recently been sick, stay out of the water at public or private pools and recreation areas.
People who have had diarrhea should not swim for two weeks after the diarrhea has ended.
The parasite is resistant to chlorine at normal levels used in pools and can be difficult to eliminate.
