SALT LAKE CITY -- Next year will mark the 100th anniversary of Utah's state flag. A lawmaker wants to make some corrections to it.

For the past 88 years flag companies have been making the Utah flag incorrectly. The official flag adopted in 1911 has the year 1847 -- when Mormon pioneers entered the Salt Lake Valley -- on the shield.

A flag produced in 1922 put that number below and almost behind the shield.

Rep. Julie Fischer is proposing a bill that would correct the mistake. If the bill passes, the incorrect flags will continue to be honored but when they're retired a new, corrected version will take their place.
