ANTELOPE ISLAND -- One of the oldest and largest public herds of bison was rounded up on Antelope Island Friday.

Riders on horseback took the herd from the southern tip of the island to the handling facility at the park's northern end as part of the 24th annual Bison Range Ride and Roundup.

The bison are weighed and inoculated at the facility. A microchip is also implanted in each animal's ear to serve as a permanent identification and store the animal's health history.
