LITTLE COTTONWOOD CANYON -- Two men were critically injured when the car they were driving went off a 100-foot embankment in Little Cottonwood Canyon Sunday.

According to Unified police Lt. Don Hutson, the two Sandy men, ages 24 and 27, were speeding down the canyon on Little Cottonwood Road around 5 p.m. Hutson says the driver was weaving in and out of traffic, swerved to avoid a head-on collision with another car and lost control of the vehicle.

The car flew down an embankment above Tanner Flat campground and came to a stop about 100 feet below the road.

Both men, whom Hutson says are related, were flown to area hospitals in critical condition. The men were conscious and breathing when rescuers came to their aid.
