PROVO -- Backers of an ethics reform campaign are in their final push.
Saturday, supporters were in Provo gathering signatures to put on the ballot a sweeping legislative reform package which would establish a code of conduct and campaign contribution limits.

"To tell our legislators that we want some limits and, I think, safeguards," said Utah County resident Lisa Lance. "It's important to have safeguards, so that's why I signed it."
Supporter Richard Copenhaver said reform is essential. "If there's any place we need an ethical reform it's in our government agencies, and it has to happen," he said.
Utah County resident Joe Shelton said he hopes the petition will inspire action.
"I signed the petition because it's one way to get the Legislature to act in a positive way," he said.
Most lawmakers in the GOP-led legislature oppose the drive. Sen. Curt Bramble, R-Provo, calls the effort "patently misguided."
He says reform backers missed their original deadline to put the measure on the ballot in 2010 and they shouldn't be allowed to use those same signatures now to put it on the ballot in 2012.
