Police search for driver who hit and killed 1-year-old child

TAYLORSVILLE -- Police in Taylorsville are looking for a woman who drove into and killed a young child Friday night.

The accident happened around 7:30 p.m., when the 1-year-old girl was playing with other children in a yard near 800 West and 4600 South.

Witnesses describe the driver as a saleswoman and say she left the driveway, hit the girl and kept going. The girl died at the scene.

Police say the woman was driving a newer-model silver minivan with tinted windows. If you have any information on who she might be, call the Taylorsville Police Department at 801-743-7000.
