(KSL News) The late former Utah Congressman Wayne Owens was inducted into the Hinckley Institute of Politics Hall of Fame today at the University of Utah.

Political leaders remembered Owens as a visionary on the environment. He ended his career working for peace in the Middle East.

Steven Owens reflected on his father's life, and commented on messages that came in from leaders around the world. "One of them said it's symbolic that his heart stopped beating here where he had dedicated his heart."

Wayne Owens died in 2002, while in Israel. Steve Owens said he'll remember his father's gift of leading, but not pushing.
