(KSL News) The Utah Highway Patrol is out on a major DUI blitz tonight. Thirty troopers are working the blitz. They gathered for a briefing this evening at the Murray office of the UHP.
Troopers take DUIs very seriously and say a drunk doesn't have to be sloppy drunk to be legally drunk.
Sgt. Larry Mower, with the UHP, said, "I hear that a lot when I arrest a DUI. They'll tell me, 'But I'm not drunk.' And I explain to them that being under the influence doesn't necessarily mean being drunk, it just means that your ability to make decisions, especially behind the wheel of a car, has been impaired."
The officers will be out until about 4:30 in the morning and will concentrate on the Salt Lake City area.
