ROME (AP) — Having expressed some concerns earlier this month, Rome Mayor Ignazio Marino is pledging his full support again for the city's 2024 Olympics bid.
Marino hosted a city hall meeting Wednesday with bid leader and former Ferrari president Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, Italian Olympic Committee president Giovanni Malago and government cabinet undersecretary Graziano Delrio.
Marino says "we decided on the road map. We exchanged our ideas and there was total agreement on our vision: to run a great race with everyone's belief that we have everything it takes to win."
Three weeks ago, Marino brought up worries over debts and failed construction projects from past sporting events in Rome.
Italian Premier Matteo Renzi announced Rome's cost-conscious Olympic bid in December.
The IOC will select the host city in 2017.
