KEARNS, Utah (AP) — Shani Davis is among eight Olympians who qualified for the U.S. long-track speedskating team that will compete on the fall World Cup circuit.
Davis skated the fastest 1,000 meters in the world this year with a time of 1 minute, 8.03 seconds during the recent qualifier at the Utah Olympic Oval.
Other Olympians who made the World Cup roster are: Brittany Bowe, Heather Richardson, Sugar Todd, Maria Lamb, Jonathan Garcia, Joey Mantia and Mitch Whitmore.
The rest of the roster is: Kimani Griffin, Steven Hartman, Edwin Park, Chase Reichmann, Jeffrey Swider-Peltz, Erin Bartlett, Jaclyn Rowe, Carlijn Schoutens, Paige Schwartzburg, and Jerica Tandiman.
The U.S. long-track team flopped at the Sochi Olympics, getting shut out for the first time since 1984.
