FRENCH LICK, Ind. (AP) — Trish Johnson beat Juli Inkster with a par on the sixth hole of a playoff Sunday in The Legends Championship.

Johnson and Inkster each shot 1-under 71 to finish regulation at 5-under 139 on the Pete Dye Course at French Lick Resort. The playoff was the longest in the history of the 16-year-old Legends Tour.

"I wish I could say I enjoyed that, but I really didn't," Johnson said. "It was a battle for survival at the end."

Johnson earned $37,000 for her first Legends title. The 50-year-old English player won three times on the LPGA Tour.

The 56-year-old Inkster made a 10-foot birdie putt on the par-5 18th in regulation to force the playoff. Last year, the Hall of Famer won the event, beating Johnson by two strokes.

Laura Davies was third at 2 under after a 71.

Jan Stephenson won the Honors Division for players 63 and older for the second straight year, shooting a 73 for a four-stroke victory over Shelley Hamlin.
