OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) — The inaugural International Crown is unique for what it isn't.

Thirty-two elite players from eight countries will compete at Caves Valley Golf Club to determine which nation has the best female players in the world.

It's not about individual play. None of the eight teams has a captain, and unlike the Solheim Cup, this isn't just the United States versus Europe.

The U.S. is the top seed. South Korea, Japan, Sweden, Australia, Thailand, Spain and Taiwan also are competing to raise the 20-pound trophy after the final ball drops into the hole Sunday.

American Stacy Lewis, an 11-time tour winner, says of the LPGA-sanctioned tournament: "It's got a little bit different feel. But it's cool. It's something we needed for a long time."
