LONDON (AP) — Argentina defender Pablo Zabaleta has joined West Ham from Premier League rival Manchester City, signing a two-year deal.
The 32-year-old fullback says "sometimes a new challenge is all you need as a person and as a player. I thought my time at City was done. It's been a fantastic nine years, absolutely brilliant."
Zabaleta won two Premier League titles at City. He said he had chosen to join West Ham, which finished in 11th place this season, ahead of other clubs in England, Italy and Spain.
Zabaleta says "for me, after being in this country for so long, this is a new challenge for me in the Premier League and I'm ready for it and looking forward to it."
