COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ola Kamara scored late in stoppage time to give the Columbus Crew a 1-1 draw with the New York Red Bulls on Saturday night.
Kamara got behind the defense on an inside run and was able to slide and redirect a cross from Waylon Francis for his fifth goal.
Time might have expired with three minutes of stoppage time added, but New York defender Gideon Baah was injured blocking a shot in the second minute.
It was a key point for Columbus (3-5-7), which was ninth in the Eastern Conference after having eliminated New York in the conference finals last season.
The second-place Red Bulls (7-8-2) scored in the 52nd minute when Alex Muyl ran down a long ball down the right sideline from Dax McCarty and sent a perfect cross into the box that Bradley Wright-Phillips headed in for his ninth goal.
