MANCHESTER, England (AP) — Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany is in line to play against Tottenham on Sunday for his first match this year, after recovering from a calf injury.
City manager Manuel Pellegrini says Kompany is in the squad for the game at Etihad Stadium.
The Belgium center back has played just nine minutes of City's last 20 games because of injury, and City's defense has looked shaky without its captain.
Pellegrini said on Friday, "You've seen Kompany play for so many years, I don't have to say what he will bring. He is one of the best defenders in the league."
