CHICAGO (AP) — The San Francisco 49ers say coach Chip Kelly's father has died.

General manager Trent Baalke issued a statement following Sunday's loss to the Chicago Bears confirming Paul Kelly's death. No other details were revealed, and Kelly made no mention of his father's passing during his postgame news conference.

Baalke says Kelly will take some time off and that the 49ers' "thoughts and prayers" are with him and his family. He adds, "Chip has our continued support as he mourns the passing of his father."
