SALT LAKE CITY -- Former NFL standout and Hall of Famer Steve Young says he was once told he couldn't be a quarterback because he's left-handed.
"I remember [Doug Scovil] pulling me aside my freshman year and really, it was one of the more deflating conversations where he said, look, Steve, I just want to let you know, I will not coach a leftie," Young said on the Doug Wright Show.
Eventually, the Super Bowl champion says he got his shot at calling plays, and the rest is history. It's one of several stories he tells in a new book co-written with Jeff Benedict, called "QB: My Life Behind the Spiral."
